10:00 – 10:45 am FIRST SESSION

 Happens outside in Washington Park

 Supporting a Breastfeeding mom, ideas for Dad’s & family members, Esther 

Schiedel, LLL Leader. Support can make all the difference in a breastfeeding 

relationship. We'll discuss ways to support new mothers emotionally and 

practically.

 Mindful Bodies, Peaceful Minds, Peter Cook Gym BC-130

We’ll explore a rudimentary yoga routine, suitable for families and children to do 

with their parents, and how it might help people live more engagingly with their 

respective worlds.

 Birth Options: Home? Birth Center? Hospital? Panel of local midwives,

OpenSpace allows any group of people to gather and discuss a topic they are 

interested in and energized about. Check out our OpenSpace board to post or

11:00 - 11:45 pm SECOND SESSION

 The Art of Breastfeeding Q&A (in English and Spanish), Rhonda MuellerWarrant LLL Leader & Rocio Badger, RN. This session will be a typical LLL 

meeting. Moms are encouraged to bring breastfeeding and parenting questions.

 Babywearing & Breastfeeding, Ashley Barrett, LLL Leader. Babywearing helps 

your breastfeeding relationship be even stronger by keeping baby close and 

secure. In this session we will be talking about types of carriers, how to support 

baby’s physical development with proper positioning, and how babywearing 

supports and helps the breastfeeding relationship.

 A Mock Meeting for Leader Applicants, Janet Weidman LLL Leader This

session is designed to help LLL Leader Applicants (and new Leaders) with the 

dynamics of a diverse meeting. We will have on-the-spot assignments to the 

participants, some will be the Leaders, some will be the mothers at the meeting, 

some with be the toddlers/preschoolers. We will then reassign with new roles for 

everyone. A discussion of group dynamics and positive ways to handle the 

challenges will follow.

 Fit Kids, Paula Jenssen. Parenting Success Network/LBCC Room Gym

This session is for parents and their toddlers, walking to 2years old. We will 

explore information, activities, songs and games focused on promoting toddler 

health and fitness.

1:15 – 2:00 pm THIRD SESSION

 Parents and Toddlers Together, Paula Jenssen Parenting Success 

Network/LBCC. For parents and their toddlers, walking to 2 years old. Through 

fun, active participation this session provides information, activities, songs and 

games focused on supporting children’s development.

 Keeping Abreast: Up to Date Breastfeeding Info, Megan Dunn LLL Leader 

Breastfeeding information is constantly changing and evolving as science 

provides new and dynamic information. In this session we will focus on two 

common concerns: treatment of sore nipples and suspected thrush.

Couple Communication, Tove Gilbert–Morgan, health educator 

Communication skills can help you support each other and enhance your 

relationship.

 Fundraising ideas for Leaders, Stephanie Edwards LLL Leader We will 

explore ways to raise money for local groups and LLL of Oregon in ways that 

require little time and energy. I will address the dreaded act of asking for money 

and show you how to make it feel natural and easy. We will leave plenty of time 

for questions and brainstorming.

2:15 - 3:00 pm FOURTH SESSION

 Teaching Children to Manage Their Behavior, Joy Keiser LBCC Parent 

Educator. Learn strategies to encourage positive behavior, avoid power 

struggles, and teach values to our children so they can make healthy choices 

throughout life. You will leave with a tool box of ideas and a chance to practice 

how that might work in your family.

 Baby, Let’s Eat! Starting Solids, Leah Brunson WIC. Using WIC model of 

Participant Centered Education, this session is a facilitated discussion about 

adding solids to baby’s diet to enhance the breastfeeding experience. 

Participants will get helpful ideas about what and when to introduce specific 

foods and answers to any feeding questions.

 Roundtable: Handling Helping Calls, an LLL Leader Facilitator 

 Herbal Care for Breastfeeding Mothers, Natasha Joseph LLL Leader. This 

session will help parents identify herbal and natural care remedies for their 

breastfeeding ailments. The hope is to empower parents to make informed 

decisions about their healing and their breastfeeding relationship.
